 NLB Trip

I finally decided to get my butt down to the National Library. It look magnificent as the place looked totally modern and impressive. Being the traditional person I am, I was feeling slightly distasteful about the place. It was to modern for my likings. I felt no sense of literature and aura of reading when I entered the place. Images of the old brick-walled National Library brought a disappointed smile to my face. But well, the world is ever changing. I was rudely shocked by the fact that we cannot bring in our bags. Darn. My whole bag is filled with my laptop and reading stuff that I had intended to bring to library to study. I had thought of a National Library to be a condusive place to read and learn, but on the looks of it, forget it.
Too…modern? So sulkingly, I left my bag and stuff in the locker. I was actually feeling quite pissed. Man, suppose now I am doing a project, and my bag is filled with pens, markers, and stuffs that I will be using, then wad? I can imagine myself trying to grow 12 pairs of hands to hold my stuff.
Was that a tradition of the old National library? My distaste for this new library grew as I continued my journey. I tried to do some search on the books here. I am doing a project on Esplanade, so I thought the NLB surely have the most massive collection of this Singapore proj. to my amazement, I found like, 2 books? Must be my searching sucks. I decided. Orh well. I decided to do some online search. And guess wad?
ok, I accept the MSN thing. They are trying to get people to study here. Not chat. But wad the? Internet searches too? Seriously, I believe I can get a better connection at the Mac-s around. Darn. I felt so crippled. Darn. No internet? Wad good is a laptop then? Cannot find …. Became the common thing with each launch of a new explorer. Darn. And they say it is the wireless world now. I do doubt this sentence. Overall, I found it a disappointing trip. I fondly remember my last trip to the old NLB and man, the feeling is incomparable.-saded-
