 A Trip to to Geylang...
Saturday, May 19, 2007
Yesterday, I went to Geylang to meet my client...Oops...shit..that sounds so wrong...I repeat my words, I went to Geylang to meet my client...Wad the... I mean, I met my client at Geylang....Shit..however I say it, it still sounds so wrong... :(
Anyways, I had to meet my client in Geylang because his workplace is at geylang and he have otherwise no time to meet me. Already reach signing the policy stage...but ting is, I went with a male colleague..hmm..does that jus made tings worst?
Duh, in anyway, we went to meet him at the coffee shop, and he had to go to the bank as well, so we jus had to wait for him. Cos I was wearing skirt and long sleeve shirt and its in the morning, its cold, so me and my colleague waited outside the bank.
It is surely an interesting view out there on the street of Geylang. We were at Lor 24, or 22, hmm...is it the 'red lights street'?? I dunno. Anyways, I, with my own eyes for the first time saw the 'peddling process'... From the way she speaks, it is distinctively obviously that the person is from PRC. And her target? A surprisingly old all-white-hair slightly plump old man who walks really slowly to the extent, he is almost like limping slightly. I din hear much, cos she was haggling while the old man walks on almost ignoring her totally... I only hear her saying, "来嘛,来嘛...." As they neared where we were standing, she suddenly turned and walked off.
As the client have been in the bank for close to 30min, my colleague went in to take a look, while I muse over wad I've jus seen.. Duh..its my turn...-.-""... an old uncle came, stared at me from head to toe, and starts tilting his head upwards while lookin at me, as if asking "How much?" At first I dunno wad he was saying, so I jus looked at him, tilting my head in the "WAD?" look...then i realised...my god, he's asking for 'my price'... -.-""
I turned and walked into the bank. The police inside the bank saw wad happened, so he advised me to wait in the bank instead of outside...
Thankfully, after that, nothin interesting happened. I closed my deal and went off with my colleague..
I guess I was freaked out too do more than walk away. Guess I m also partially disgusted..cos the uncle is old enuf to be my dad too..-.-"" and he is old and scrawny looking and darked skin from the sun, wrinkled and... totally...eeks..
From my experience in Geylang, lemme give some tips to ladies who had to go to Geylang...
Tip # 1 Wear long sleeve, long pants.
No la, the real tip is, DUN WEAR SKIRT!!!
I forgot that I m going to geylang... wear skirt...duh...cos my office wear mainly consist of skirt..shld have take notice... :(
Tip #2 Do not stand ard alone and look like you are waiting for someone (even if u are indeed waiting for someone). Cos it will look like u are waiting for someone...to pick u up, ask for price, wait for customer erh?
Tip #3 Dun go to Geylang alone. (for ladies)
That's all, my unfortunate trip to Geylang...and got harassed .. Duh... I will still go back to Geylang..for food la..but anyway, will remember the tips myself... :D
