Someting against Mole.
Friday, February 27, 2009

Was wondering for some time if I shld even post tis up.

Then again, I tink I shld. Kinda, raise awareness?

Well, weeks ago, one fine day I woke up, feeling bored so outta curiosity, I asked my bff, why my mole bleeds. Well, probably cos I scratched it,duh! Bt well, I was really bored. So I jus typed into google, "mole+bleed", expecting to find some crappy reasons for it.

The first link made me sit up and stare, second link made my eyes widened. Opening each link, I found a familiar word there, "cancer" or "skin cancer" or more specifically, "melanoma".

O.o

Checking thru the symptoms n ways to diy-test it out, most suggestions direct me to go get it check out at the doc.

And so I did.

I went to NUS doc tinking they haf labtest available, so prob can do a test on it. The doc briefly looked at the said mole and den sae, "ok, let me write u a letter to refer u to a demetologist. A skin Doctor".

And so, I proceeded to get my referral letter. I was given a choice of havin her refer me to poly clinic who will refer me to NSC (National Skin centre), or go directly to NSC. The difference is, 3mths and 200bucks diff. hmm... 3mths? Hw am I to survive waitin 3 mths to know if I've got cancer ornot?

Melonma is the most serious kind of skin cancer cos it can spread ard the body. And to wait 3mths? OMG! so indeed, I went for the direct non-waitin method.

The nurse arranging the appointment for me was joking ard with the nurse on the other side. Their laughter are in direct contrast with me, as anxiety built up within me.

For a doc to refer me to a skin specialist under the case "Urgent, asap", when we r suspecting its skin cancer...aint assuring...at all...

The following dae tt I went for the doc in NUS, I went for my apointment to meet the skin specialist at NSC.

Wher's the mole, he asked. I said, at my side, and he say he wld like to see it. so I turned to my side and lifted my top abit, he totally freaked out.lol!

He was like..HOLD HOLD, let me call in the nurse, den he tried awkwardly to strike up a conversation with me while waitin for the nurse.

I almost feel like as "Flasher".

After doing some probs, he said, hafta remove the mole and send for labtesting. hmmm...
and will need 2 stitch..

O.o

I lie at my side as they prepared the stuff. Suddenly, I feel abit cold. hmm...fear? scared? yea maybe. As the green cloth is placed onto me and it felt like a BIG OPERATION, I guess some fear strike me.

Afterall, since the 11stitch I have on my face some 2X yrs ago, I havent have any stitches le..

After tt, doc injected the anesthetic to me. Kinda hurt, cos its at the bone-ny side. U noe, wher ppl tickle u at? Super pain lah....

Then i tink he pinch me, and asked, "Issit painful?", to which I replied, "huh? Wad pain"?

Lol.

It felt so long as I feel him tug at my skin. Saw him sewing, and seems to be takin really forever. I turned abit to try to look, bt cant. Cos its at my side. As i was wondering, hw many stitch, the cute nurse turn and gimme a Victory-handsign

two stitch!

She said.

I m to go back in 2wks time too to remove stitch and get my results.

As I pay the bills, the bills hurt more than the operation itself. 300bucks...

2 wks later, of cos, I went back, and without much fuss got the stitch removed, and see the doc, who told me its clinically a mole. hmmm...ok...

Not unexpected.

But yea, I jus spent 300bucks for a specialist to remove a mole of mine to tel me its IS jus a mole.

lol!

Well, moral of the story is not to complain, but well, to sae, hey, if u gt a mole tt dun look like a mole cos its growing bigger, and is not symmetrical in shape, there maybe a chance it aint a simple mole.

There is risk that it is not a simple mole.

Curiosity kills the cat, but hey, if it had not been a simple mole, bt is cancerous instead, curiousity had saved this Cat afterall..

So, start watching ur moles..

Noting personal bout hving someting against the mole.. :P

End of Story
