Kinda sad...Actually..not kinda sad..Is really quite very sad..to say the fact, I m SAD. I m depressed.
Well, actually...who to blame? well, when I m sore, I'll say everyone..
So what is it exactly?
My presentation...not the one with the free-riders, but one that is pretty rushed too, but which we did put in effort to do..kinda screwed up quite badly.
I actually did put in effort, alot of effort... taking pictures, doing research, report, presentation.
The presentation is required/requested to be done with creativity... creativity..skit? no way. My team mates and I are not willing/daring enuf to act in front of the whole lecture group..video..kinda like acting out of the question. Video even worse bah...
I cracked my brain tinking of hw it wld be interesting, relevant, creative and not requiring us to 'show face' One day while watching documentry, *snap* I got an idea. We will use comic strip to illustrate a point, and elaborate. Kinda like "Chew on it!" on sunday times...Comic strip to illustrate the point is seomting no one does..and is new. And creative, and does not require our faces. The perfect solution.
Soon, ambition took over and I wanted to do more than jus lifeless comic. I wanted to do flash. Flash animation. Someting I have nv learnt before in my whole life. Something that I've done some 10years ago..something that is so alien to me, in a matter of 3days from when I first got the programme. Kinda like a challenge aint it? Gettin the progamme itself is a challenge. Getting ur hands on something u've nv tried before and doing it is...a greater challenge. And the even greater challenge? Make sure its cute and funny and hit the point.
We brainstormed the ideas. Came up with some ideas. I added some happy tips and it became kinda funny. But still in point.
I worked hard the weekdays to beautify the project. I worked hard the weekends to come up with the flash animation.
I have to side-track abit here. There is one partial free rider whom I recruited in (cos insufficient members), who did only the intro, which I demanded to redo cos its not done in the way I we agreed upon. And I nearly had to redo it myself if not for the fact that miraculously got hold of her that night and got her to change it.
Ok, the point is, i tink she only use 1 hour (and she was one day late. submitting the work on the eve of submission), to cut and paste the first draft she did. And finally another hour to redo it, when I asked her to.
OKOK, now the point is, I spent the remaining night, from 2am when I received her work to 6am to finish up the report.. Somehow, I m jus the kinda person who cant sleep without finishing the project on the eve of submission. So my group mates can sleep in peace and wake up to a pleasant surprise. :D
Now the best part is... Today is the presentation. And its screwed up.
Prof said he likes the presentation. The flash was great.. He even say Too bad our report cannot put animation. BUT~ yes, the big BUT~ We missed the whole issue. sighz...actually, I din tink we missed the whole issue. Its jus that we went micro on the issue and he wanted macro...So well.. kinda..screwed up..
Despite my spending 2days on it. Despite my doing until 5am today. Despite all the efforts and tot it wld be good..it screwed up..
And the best part is, everyone else does great. If ur presentation is without skit or video, u are the outcast. I m surprised by the sudden surge in creativity among people. I m surprised.
Suddenly, I feel like all along, though in terms of presentation wise, with the nice way of presenting and nice layout with my office 2007, our group are ahead. Now suddenly, its like I m on a threadmill and everyone is chasing up, and surpassing. Our animation flash is like jus giving us a pass, instead of a GOOD. duh...
Sighz... I feel like I fell from the 12th storey down down down.. Presentation was my forte...and now, we missed the whole issue.
Anyways, we are not the only group. Another group, nice skit, nice presentation, nice video. BUT? They missed the point too. the whole issue. And worse, their group's video is chided as rhidiculous and irrelevant..but well, at least our presentation is..ok..its the content... sad rite? when someone says ur content sucks. Well, its kinda not really our fault... For both our group, one is doing on Future while one is doing on the past, of the town council of our choice, and both of us became out of issue. I think the issue is, the issue is too big. Tht its hard to be focused and hard to really get wad the prof wans..so..yah.. :(
Well,if I m irresponsible, I can jus say, I m nt the one who came up with the content. I merely followed the other group mate's indication of how the report shld b written. And the presentation which I've directed is ok,jus that the content is bad. ITS NOT MY FAULT!
Truth is, it is..I m as clueless as they and they did the best they could. Besides that one person who probably spent less than 2hr on this report, that is.
The other point is, from the report to the presentation, I've spent countless nights awake and editing, animating.
And I end up with the same freaking grade as the one who spent 2hrs..(she din even do the pwp). Sometimes, free riding is good. Partial free riding is better. No one can mark u down, but u are spending so little effort for the same grade.
AND NOW, I end up spending alot of time on someting, that does only to save our presentation from failin (instead of pulling marks way up). On something that I probably wont do that well. With nowhere to show off. And no good grades to boast.
And feeling sore about everything.

Sore about spending so much effort on something that doesnt pay off.
